Hemp Production Process:

More than 2000 years ago, when Jesus and Buddha were making the rounds in the neighbourhood of Nepal, the people of this region were harvesting the hemp and nettles for their hand spun and garments. More modern techniques have refined the process for developing these garments. Hemp and nettles are still collected by local people in the higher mountains regions where it grows wild; no deforestation is required for any of our products. Production first begisn with soaking of the plant, it is boiled with ash to naturally bleach it and make it soft. After drying on rocks in the Nepali sun, the product is spun into the harder than nettles, this product is very strong and durable; 10 to 15 times stronger than cotton. Nettle fiber which is may bring thougts of sticky thorns to mind, actually tends to be more pliable than hemp and is similar to wool after the production process. Of course, years of synthetic use in the developed world has taught us the important health benefits of these natural fibres. Similar to silk, the fabric has qualities that allow it to breathe so that you are always comfortable in our products.
